Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. J. Lex Kenerly has had the honor and privilege of treating patients in his hometown and surrounding areas for more than two decades. A board certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Kenerly specializes in many surgical and nonsurgical treatments of conditions related to the musculoskeletal system.

Dr. J. Matthew Valosen, MDJ. Matthew Valosen, MD

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. J. Matthew Valosen, a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, has a broad practice to include total knee replacements, rotator cuff repairs, ACL reconstruction, fracture surgery, orthobiologics, and much more. He joined the Bone and Joint Institute of South Georgia (BJISG) after beginning his career as a U.S. Army Orthopaedic Surgeon. He was previously the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgical Services at Winn Army Community Hospital, Ft. Stewart, GA. Dr. Valosen brings to BJISG a wealth of experience from his military background in treating sports related and traumatic injuries of musculoskeletal system.

Dr. Thomas P. Loumeau, MDThomas P. Loumeau, MD

Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon

Dr. Thomas P. Loumeau is a board certified orthopaedic spine surgeon internationally recognized for his innovative research presentations from Canada to Spain.  Dr. Loumeau joined BJISG in 2017 bringing a vast knowledge of spine treatments that is a huge asset to our patients and community.

Dr. T. Jordan Polander, MDT. Jordan Polander, MD

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. T. Jordan Polander joins the Bone & Joint Institute of South Georgia specializing in sports injuries and total shoulder replacements. He has worked and trained with world renowned surgeons as well as had the opportunity to care for professional athletes from all over the United States.

Dr. Brian T. Grisez, MDBrian T. Grisez, MD

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Brian T. Grisez specializes in orthopaedic surgery including total hip replacements using the anterior approach, partial knee replacements, total knee replacements as well as revisions. He has experience in the latest research, teaching and clinical techniques and has given presentations across the United States.

For more than a decade, Physician Assistant Scott Rowell has been a tremendous asset to Dr. Kenerly’s Orthopaedic Practice. His warm bedside manner and personality have endeared Scott to the hundreds of patients with whom he has served at The Bone and Joint Institute.

Kyle Deuter, P.A.-CKyle Deuter, P.A.-C

Certified Physician Assistant

Kyle Deuter comes to the Bone and Joint Institute with nearly fifteen years of orthopaedic experience. “I chose orthopaedics because I’ve played and loved sports my entire life and enjoy the physical, hands-on nature of orthopaedics. I’m thrilled to be a part of Bone & Joint Institute’s team and look forward to providing patient-centered care to each patient that comes through our doors.”

W. Scott Rowell P.A.-CG. Heath Denmark, P.A.-C

Certified Physician Assistant

Heath brings over 5 years of experience as an Orthopaedic Physician Assistant.  Upon his graduation in March of 2013, he began practicing in Douglas, GA.  During his time in Douglas, he worked with a number of specialized teams including: Sports Medicine, General Orthopaedics, Total Joint Replacements, and Spine.

Our Physical Therapists

Joseph Hires, PT, DPT

Clinic Director – Physical Therapist

Joseph Hires, PT, DPT graduated from Armstrong University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science degree. He then went on to the University of St. Augustine where he graduated in 2019 with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy.  Born and raised in Jesup, GA, Joseph knew he wanted to return home after school to give back to his community.  “It’s a dream come true to work with the physicians at the Bone & Joint Institute of South Georgia; physicians I’ve known of my whole life,” Joseph said.  Growing up, Joseph was involved in sports and knew he wanted to pursue a career in the medical field.  “Physical Therapy allows me to combine my love of sports and medicine to help patients with a variety of conditions.  We work hand in hand with the physicians to provide these patients with the best possible care.”

Cephas Gumbs, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Cephas Gumbs, PT, DPT, comes to the Bone & Joint Institute of South Georgia with over 20 years of experience as a Physical Therapist. He received his Bachelor of Physical Therapy degree from Georgia State University and then went on to complete his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Montana. He has worked with patients of all ages creating optimal treatment plans to meet the specific goals of the patients and their families.
